Height matters as much as age

Junior karts need a child who can reach the pedals and see over the wheel, so most tracks set a height minimum as well as an age. Among tracks that take 8-year-olds, 73 publish a junior height. 120 cm is by far the most common (42 tracks), and the range runs from 100 cm to 140 cm. Adult sessions usually ask for more, often 150 cm.

How to choose a track for a child

  • Start with the junior age and height on the track page, not the headline adult limits.
  • Check whether junior sessions run on their own or alongside adults, and on which days.
  • Look at the junior karts. They are often smaller and slower than the adult fleet, which is what you want for a first go.
  • Compare the price per session across the tracks you're weighing up.
  • Ring the venue if a limit isn't published, and confirm they can book the age group you need.
